- 83% Hand processed and Hand Dyed (by me!) Romney wool, 11% Silky Bamboo Fiber, and 6% Recycled Sari Silk

- Each skein is 138 yards.

- This is a One of a Kind, Ombre Self-striping, Hand-spun yarn created by me with great love and attention to detail on my Louet S15 spinning wheel.

- I spun this yarn in a fractal pattern. This means that each when worked up, each skein subtly self-stripes, while also changing color in a kind of gradient from one end of the skein to the other. Each skein moves through Deep Plum, Navy Blue, Purple, Bright Blue, and Hot Pink with shiny bamboo, and textural sari silk accents sprinkled throughout.

- This yarn is perfect for adding excitement to your own unique crocheting, weaving or knitting creations!

What Can I Make With This Yarn?

Each skein of my Hand Spun Yarn is enough to make a Beret or Fingerless mitts*. Two skeins are enough for a Hat, Gloves, or Cowl*. Three or more are enough for a Shawl, Scarf, or mixed with your favorite solid color yarn, a Sweater*!

Hand Spun is great for making Shawls, Gloves, Hats, Scarves, and Socks. My Hand spun works particularly well as the yoke of a color-work sweater, or in the Nightshift Shawl Pattern.

*This estimate is dependent upon the pattern you choose.

Fiber Content Properties

  • The Romney wool is warm and moisture wicking
  • The Bamboo (a silky eco friendly plant fiber) adds durability and shine
  • The Recycled Sari Silk adds a gorgeous textural element to the blend

This Romney wool came from a happy sheep on a farm in upstate NY. I received the raw wool in fleece form and I skirted, scoured, dyed, and carded the wool myself by hand.

This was a true labor of love. I am so inspired by sustainable fiber sourced from local farms.

How Was This Yarn Made?

To spin this Yarn:

  • I carded 5 colors of the raw fleece I dyed myself
  • Then I made batts on my drum carder blending bamboo and recycled sari silk into the Romney for some shiny accents.
  • I spun these blends in a fractal pattern and plied them together.

This color palate is right in my happy place, and I hope it makes you happy too!
